☆Connection Types:
Inlet Connection: CGA fitting specific to the gas and cylinder valve (e.g., CGA 540, CGA 510).
Outlet Connection: Typically a standard hose thread (e.g., NPT – National Pipe Thread, BSP – British Standard Pipe) or a quick-connect fitting.
☆Body Material:
Brass: Most common, economical, good for inert gases, fuels (acetylene, propane), air, CO2.
Aluminum: Lighter weight, used for some portable applications (e.g., helium balloons, beverage CO2), but check gas compatibility.
Stainless Steel: Essential for high purity, ultra-high pressure (UHP), and highly corrosive gases (e.g., HCl, Cl2, NH3). Also used in marine environments.
☆Stages:
Single-Stage: Simple, economical. Outlet pressure rises slightly (“droop”) as inlet pressure falls (cylinder empties) and drops slightly as flow increases. Suitable for many general applications.
Two-Stage: Provides superior pressure stability. The first stage reduces pressure significantly but variably; the second stage finely regulates it to a constant level, minimizing droop from inlet changes or flow variations. Essential for critical applications (lasers, chromatography, high-precision welding/cutting).
